"30-Day" challenges.

Before I rant, as a Personal Trainer and general sports coach, I love when people try and get fit. I think being active is amazing for health, wellbeing and socialising. However, in the context of these "30-day challenges" which pop up on social media every month or so, I believe they can cause much more harm than good.
This is the most recent one to pop up in my facebook newsfeed, and it's more awful than ever before.
It's been said many times before on r/fitness, heck even by me, but these things are just terrible.
In my opinion: The difficulty curve and progression expectations are ridiculous, expecting to see hypotrophy in less than 30 days will never happen. This program offers no form of function or balance for the body (training these specific muscle groups exclusively would cause some major muscular imbalances), it is far too much training for a beginner and finally it does not give you any plan of what to do after the 30 days if you actually manage to stick with it.
There is no way that someone who is a beginner can do 50 (correct form) squats, and I know of little to nobody who could do 250 of them, no matter their fitness. The crunch “core challenges” have the same problem.
I have said in a previous post: " A far more realistic program is needed... It is ‘challenges’ like this which will just give people unreal expectations and turn people off exercise because of the amount of overtraining it will cause.
Sorry that this thread is slightly “ranty” but I think it is challenges such as this which will turn people off exercise and the rewards that fitness can provide each and every person if they give it the chance. "
Do you agree with some people that "anything is better than nothing", even if what they are doing could be damaging to their body, and confidence when they do not get immediate results?

Official Info from OTF on Transformation Challenge

Lots of posts recently asking about the Transformation Challenge - let's use this as a consolidated place to ask questions! Below are some of the "official" details on the OTF on the Transformation Challenge from an official email as well as the terms of use.
Timeline of Events
- January 10th - Registration Begins
- January 26th – January 28th - Orientation, initial weigh-ins & “before” photos
- January 29th - Transformation Challenge Begins!
- February 26th – March 2nd - Mid-Point Weigh-In & Update
- March 23rd – March 25th - Final Weigh-In & “now” photos
- March 25th - Transformation Challenge Ends!
- *Timelines may vary based on the studio
Participant requirements to ensure eligibility:
- Participants must meet and satisfy the three (3) critical program dates: the official initial weigh-in, midpoint weigh-in and final weigh-in, as well as before and after photos, to be eligible to win.
- The Cost to participate is a $25 registration fee, plus applicable class participation fees (membership or prepaid package sessions).
- Must take a minimum of three (3) class sessions per week, each week, for the full 8-week event. This is a total of at least 24 total workouts.
- The TC week is from Monday to Sunday.
- Workouts must be taken at the studio that you paid your entry fee.
- No more than one (1) workout per day is permitted.
Other details
- Remember - don’t forget to pre-book your workouts! What better way to hold yourself accountable.
- Winners will be chosen based on highest percentage of weight loss.
- Refer a friend and get your $25 entry fee waived.

My studio is waiving the fee for premier members, but I don't know how common that is.
